Soren Gurney

Apprentice Carpenter

Soren Gurney is an apprentice carpenter at Veritas Custom Homes who focuses primarily on finish carpentry and the detailed work that brings a project to its final form. He enjoys refining the last stages of a build and believes the final 10 percent of a project is what truly defines exceptional craftsmanship.

Soren’s passion for working with tools began early while spending time in the shop of a woodworking guild his grandfather belonged to. Watching raw materials transform into something meaningful sparked a fascination with building that has stayed with him ever since. Over the years, he has continued to develop hands-on skills, teaching himself everything from working on cars to welding and sewing clothing.

Before entering the construction industry, Soren spent two years working at Zingerman’s Deli in downtown Ann Arbor. He later joined Veritas Custom Homes, where he continues to grow his carpentry skills under the mentorship of experienced craftsmen.

Outside of work, Soren enjoys listening to music, whether it’s spinning records or streaming from his phone, and spending time outdoors with friends, often recharging in nature.
